In February I had the pleasure to speak to 8 young women about the importance of public speaking and crafting an introductory pitch. I was also able to share some insight on my college and professional career. Here’s what the Executive Director had to say about the presentation.
My name is Shamah Lloyd and I am an Executive Director for the Houston Caribbean Queen Pageant. I attended an Urban League Young Professionals networking event where Michelle Ngome and her company, Line 25 Consulting, were featured as an upcoming enterprise. I was impressed by her presentation and even more blown away by our one on one conversation. After reading Michelle’s book, I was convinced that she will be an excellent choice for an empowerment workshop facilitator for the contestants of the 2015 Houston Caribbean Queen Pageant. I was thrilled when she agreed as we needed a fun, charismatic professional to captivate the attention of our 17-24 years old audience. The collaboration was an absolute success! Michelle arrived 30 minutes early to set up her handouts (she even brought extra) and greeted each attendee on their way in. She was funny, engaging, and kept the subject matter relevant to the age group. By the end of the workshop, each of the young ladies had developed and practiced their elevator speech, grasped a better concept of how to network on social media and how to strategically meet others to unlock future opportunities. Michelle, I can’t thank you enough for enabling women’s empowerment and I look forward to working with you next year.
