Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey: Art, Beats & Lyrics Houston 2018

November 18, 2018 by Ngome

Last week I had the chance to attend the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey: Art, Beats & Lyrics (ABL) in Houston at Minute Maid Park. ABL is the traveling art and music tour presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. The multi-city tour showcases some of today’s best upcoming artists, along with seasoned veterans in art and music, under one roof. All while sipping on Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey.

This was my first time attending ABL. I was fortunate to attend the event with the Houston African-American Bloggers. This was the perfect event displaying admirable black art over a nice mix of music to set the tone for a performance by Hip-hop artist, Rapsody. I liked how ABL displayed featured art pieces on illuminated light-boxes. Dubelyoo provided a tour sharing his insight on each artist. I enjoyed walking around snapping photos, tagging and engaging with the artist on Instagram.

My favorite thing about Art, Beats & Lyrics was the exposure to modern black art in an unorthodox place. A baseball stadium? Yep, but it was the perfect space. Most of all the event inspired me to position myself to purchase art and hopefully from one of the ABL artist. Also, I had a chance to run into some friends that I haven’t seen in years. Facebook is cool, but nothing compares to catching up with someone in person.

Drink choices for the night were Jack on Jack and Jack Honey & Lemonade. I’m not a whiskey girl, but I enjoyed these drinks because they were light with just enough sweetness to it. These are two simple recipes to mix and share among friends over the holidays.

Jack on Jack Recipe:

  • 3/4 oz Jack Honey
  • 3/4 oz Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Honey & Lemondade Recipe:

  • 1 1/2 oz Jack Honey
  • 6-8 oz of Lemonade

Be sure to check out the Art, Beats & Lyric website and follow them on Instagram or #JackHoneyABL to view more pictures and find out when they will come to a city near you.
