In March the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has impacted Americans hard by the numbers. As of today, there are approximately 140,000 cases and 2,400 deaths. Furthermore, President Donald Trump extended the national social distancing guidelines to April 30th.
Whether you classify yourself as an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert we all need a bit of human interaction. Several people have created some methods of socializing by using Zoom or Instagram. I’m going to share with you five tips to help you maintain your network during a quarantine.
- CARE – This is the best time to do a courtesy check-in with people simply by text. Outside of communicating with friends this is a good time to touch base with your business colleagues. During these times checking on people is the best way to stand up and out amongst the crowd. A simple ‘hey, how are you and your family doing’ well do just fine. Don’t overthink this process.
- Social Media – Take this time to scrub through your contacts. Make a list of five people you want to reach out to each week and send them a message on the proper platform.
- Online Events – Webinars and online conference are nothing new, but there has been an influx in the past week competing with our time. Stand out by asking questions, interacting in the chat, and connecting with people on social media after the event.
- Podcast – If you ever wanted to be a guest on your favorite podcast, now is the time to pitch yourself. The key to being a good guest is adding value to the listeners. Podcasting is time consuming, so if you have some to spare you can create some good opportunities. The same can be applied to guest posting.
- Zoom – Even if you don’t do consultations this is a good time to set up online sessions. You can create a schedule on Calendly in 15 or 30 minute increments and meet on Zoom. Time blocking a few hours out of the day or week can help with this. Both platforms offer a no cost option and integrations.
Regardless of the global crisis, you can still maximize your networking ability. Keep in mind people are restructuring their budgets and business during this period. Be considerate and strategic when it comes to selling, especially if you have high ticket items. Take this time to plant seeds. Maintain relationships now that you may leverage once we reach our new normal.
